Azealia Banks no longer appears in the billboards of two festivals in England. This is the boomtown to be held from 6 to 10 August in the Hampshire and Maiden Voyage scheduled at the Burgess Park in London on August 9th. Apparently the reason runs around the slogan “Free Palestine”. Except that for once it is not an artist excluded for having said it, but a singer who erases his apparitions because of the pressures received to say it.
Or at least that's what Azealia Banks wrote yesterday on X. «Then guys, I'm deleting my participations in Boomtown and Maiden Voyage. The promoters stressed me for weeks trying to force me to say “Free Palestine” and threatening to eliminate myself from the billboard because I don't want to say it. I don't care about threats and I don't get a fucking hijab ».
And again: “If they want to allow some unknown DJ to bully to debase this musical ecosystem and make me the problem – while there is absolutely nothing ethical in capitalism – then that's okay. More seized racism and obvious anti -Semitism by those fucking gays for Hamas ». And the final hashtag: «#fuckpalestine».
Banks added to another tweet that “no, I'm not saying that I fuck the real Palestine. But rude your idiotic slogans and your performing bullshit. You want to take a position at all costs, but don't represent anything. As soon as the media say that pedophilia is “natural and normal”, you assholes will be there to talk about #pedophilerights ».
So Guys, the Am Cancelling Boomtown and Maiden Voyage, The Promoters Have Been Stressing Me Out For Weeks Trying To Force Me To Say Free Palestine and Threatening to Cut Me From The Bill Because I Won'T Say Free Palestine and I'm Not Dealing with the Threats and i'm Not Putting on …

“Let's say the truth,” writes the singer, “that war has been going on for decades, fuck. From before anyone of us was born. And suddenly you find yourself launching words such as “genocide” and “Zionist” without even knowing its meaning. Go around with your Tesla and leave comments with your iPhones who were built with the blood of the children who work in the mines from sunset to dawn. Capitalism does not provide for any ethical consumption. Everything is connected to everything ».
Banks also writes about the “tough face of the promoters” ranging from her and pretend that political positions “while they are financed by gigantic asset management funds with ties with war. You will not make me a scapegoat while you happily accepted investments from companies that are involved in almost all wars in the world ». The singer calls “a fucking sect” the pro Palestine pressure groups and speaks of “hysteria for social justice”.
In response, the boomtown communicated (via Nme) that “Azealia Banks has retired from the Ee billboard will no longer perform”, but also that “the Boomtown does not impose and will never impose opinions and beliefs from artists”.
