Just a few days ago it was announced that, two years after their last Italian appearance, Guns N' Roses will return to our local stages as headliner of the next edition of Firenze Rocks. The Los Angeles band led by Axl Rose will perform on Thursday 12 June 2025 at the Visarno Arena, in the only Italian stop of the new tour “Guns N' Roses: Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things”. The Italian date is part of a larger European and Middle Eastern tour that will see Guns N' Roses cross 24 cities throughout the summer of 2025.
Meanwhile Rai5 recalls a historic event for American training. In 2012, Guns N' Roses performed a series of concerts to celebrate 25 years of “Appetite For Destruction”, their best-selling and best-selling album, and 4 years of “Chinese Democracy”, their last studio album. The documentary film “Guns N' Roses: Appetite for Democracy”, which Rai Cultura offers on Friday 13 December at 10.45pm on Rai 5 (then streaming on RaiPlay), brings together the titles of the two famous albums to relive the enthralling live show held by the band in Las Vegas.
The film, directed by Kerry Asmussen, documents the Guns'n'Roses anthology show in the large theater in Las Vegas, of which they were the “resident band”. The set list of the concert, recorded on November 21, 2012 in Las Vegas, includes the great hits of the American group.
The powerful sound proposed, the transgressive image and dynamic live performances helped Guns'n'Roses dominate the music scene between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s; since 1993, however, the group has gone through many problems due to the conflicts between the charismatic frontman Axl Rose and the other original members. Rose, who also wrote most of the lyrics, was the only permanent member of the original lineup until 2016, when he was reunited with guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
In total they have sold over 100 million records worldwide and were placed ninety-second in the ranking of the hundred best artists according to Rolling Stone. On April 14, 2012, the original lineup was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Green Day.
The band was founded in March 1985 by Axl Rose, Tracii Guns, Izzy Stradlin, Ole Beich and Rob Gardner. The original members came from two groups, LA Guns (who later reformed) and Hollywood Rose.
