Antonella Ruggiero returns to the music scene with the album Puccini?which is scheduled for release on November 29, 2024. The work, already available for pre-order, is a tribute to the great Tuscan composer 100 years after his death.
Puccini? is part of the experimental production path undertaken in recent years by Antonella Ruggierotogether with Roberto Colombo. The album is a revisitation of the work of Giacomo Puccinidriven by the desire to take risks and travel unknown territories. The spirit of the album is expressed by the title, in which the name Puccini is followed by a question mark. The name of the composer alone would have constituted neutral information on the content of the album. Instead, Puccini? with the question mark it also graphically represents the adventure with an unknown outcome, carried out by Antonella Ruggiero.
“I imagined Puccini who, listening to these particular transpositions, enjoyed emerging from the granite territory of the world of opera, becoming in turn his own protagonist in the present day”, said the artist about the album.
Puccini? it is the result of work begun in 2001 with a first approach to the world and the arias of Giacomo Puccini. This was then followed by a process of rereadings in the electronic field, with the collaboration of Francesco Buzzurro on classical guitar. The choice of the repertoire was made following the love for the individual arias, both for soprano and tenor, modifying the original tones. Ultimately, the decision was to publish nine.
