Alan Sparhawk he has always been a prolific and multifaceted musician, a restless soul always ready to explore new sonic and emotional territories. Although his name is inextricably linked to the thirty years spent as frontman of the legendary band Lowjust take a look at the many parallel projects he carried out in the same period to see how much he loves to experiment: from punk to funk, from musical production to improvisation. Even Low have never been satisfied with just one style or a single approach. The band was a true collaboration, a continuous dialogue, a love story between Sparhawk and his wife Mimi Parker, co-founder, drummer, voice and irreplaceable soul of the group. Follow the path of Lowfrom their intimate, hushed early works, through the powerful melodies of their middle period, to the lush, creative chaos of their later albums, it's like witnessing a constant process of transformation of hearts, minds, and spirits.
In 2022 Mimi Parker passed away after a long battle with cancer, and there is no doubt that WHITE ROSES, MY GOD is a record born of pain. You can hear it right from the title, but especially in songs like “Heaven,” where Sparhawk describes the afterlife as “a lonely place, if you're alone.” This sense of loss also emerges from Sparhawk's choice to create everything himself: every note, every word, every programmed rhythm. But reducing the album only to mourning would be limiting, even unfair. This intense, brilliant, provocative and overwhelming album goes further: it is an extraordinary work of experimentation, with profound lyrics and enthralling rhythms that never cease to amaze.
