Aerosmith gather, but only for one evening. Almost six months after announcing that they will no longer be tours, Steven Tyler's band and Joe Perry has announced a new performance.
The group will meet on stage for a charity event to be held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on February 2nd. This is the Jam for Jamie Grammy Awards Viewing Party. It is an initiative of Tyler's Janie's Fund that aims to “bring hope and healing to girls and young women who have undergone a trauma”.
The proceeds of the evening will also go to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firefighter's Fund. “Music,” said Tyler, “he has the power to treat wounds. We would like to give a moment of joy and entertainment to our firefighters and who was hit by the fires ».
In addition to the “special performance” of the aerosmiths, Joan Jett, Billy Idol, Linda Perry, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme are expected.
The announcement of the retreat had taken in August. Cause: irreversible problems under Steven Tyler's voice: «Unfortunately, it is clear that a complete healing from his vocal injury is not possible. We are one Band of Brothers And we therefore made the excruciating and difficult decision, but necessary to withdraw from life on tour ».
Despite the announcement, the bassist Tom Hamilton had said he was optimistic about the possibility that the group would occasionally return to make concerts: “We will no longer go on tour, but the hope is that other opportunities are presented”.
