Mackie and Stan most recently starred together in the Marvel, Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
An unlikely Marvel reunion took place at the 82nd Golden Globes Sunday. As Sebastian Stan took home the Golden Globe for Best Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, for his performance in A Different Man, Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie bulldozed into a post-win interview to celebrate him.
During Stan’s postmortem interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mackie grabbed the microphone, chanted “We Won!,” and fired questions at the first-time Golden Globe winner. As Stan called the take-over experience a “dream and my nightmare all in one,” Mackie had more to say.
“Wake up, baby, because we are in paradise,” Mackie added, as he pulled out a celebratory “victory lap” cigar.
During the night, Mackie presented alongside Marvel co-star Harrison Ford for the Best Picture, Animated, award, and sent his love, in the form of heart hands, toward The Different Man star. Stan credits Mackie for helping him break out of his shell.
“I do have to thank Anthony because, actually, back in the day when we were starting these press tours, they said, ‘This kid can’t talk, can’t smile, can’t say anything. We gotta put him with Anthony to get some life in him.’ And maybe I learned from you,” Stan said. “You have to keep smiling.”
Their playful banter during Stan’s post-win interview felt reminiscent to the tag-team fighting duo’s satirical humor in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which released in 2021. Stan’s Bucky and Mackie’s Sam behave like a Bad Boys-esque comedy duo, during the first half of the season. Mackie’s Sam is set to take the mantle as Captain America in the Marvel Studios’ sequel Captain America: Brave New World next month.
