Katy Perry has released 1432, a deluxe version of her recent LP, 143. The new edition features four extra tracks, including the previously-unreleased song “OK.”
“OK” is an upbeat pop number that offers a hand of support as Perry sings, “I’m always gonna be around/ No matter if you’re up or down.” 1432 also features “I Woke Up,” “Has A Heart,” and “No Tears For New Year’s.”
143, which dropped in September and marked her first LP since 2020’s Smile, features collaborations with Kim Petras, Doechii, 21 Savage, and J.I.D. The first single from the album, “Woman’s World,” received considerable backlash for its music video, which was accused of catering to the male gaze in contrast to its empowering-if-outdated messaging. Perry was also criticized for working with producer Dr. Luke on both the single and the overall album.
“We’re kind of just having fun being a bit sarcastic with it, it’s very slapstick, and very on the nose,” Perry said of the first half of the video, which features the singer suggestively pouring herself in whiskey and peeing in urinals. “It’s like, ‘Oooh, we’re not about the male gaze but we really are about the male gaze,’ and we’re overplaying it.”
During an appearance on Call Her Daddy, Perry responded to a question about her decision to work with Dr. Luke. “I understand that it started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is, it comes from me,” Perry said. “The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that. One of the writers, one of the producers. I am speaking from my own experience.”
Perry will take her Lifetimes Tours to Mexico, Australia, Canada, South America, the U.K., and Europe next year. The dates kick off in Mexico City on April 23, 2025 and continue through November. On Jan. 3, 2025, Perry will appear as a guest judge on the season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
