Ride, an institution of British shoegaze, are preparing to return to Italy. After last summer's date in Soliera (Modena), the Oxford team will be back in our country on 7 May 2025, for a single date, at Alcatraz in Milan. Tickets for the concert will be available here starting from 10am on Monday 16 December.
Ride will present their seventh album, “Interplay”, released last March via Wichita Recordings. The Oxford band also produced it, together with Richie Kennedy. “This album has been a long time coming and has seen the band go through many ups and downs, but we are ready to shake off the past and celebrate the combined musical talents that brought us together,” commented Andy Bell.
Among the most influential protagonists of shoegaze, a form of English psychedelia which between the late 80s and early 90s combined noise-rock distortions, spatial sounds and sweet and dreamy melodies, Andy Bell's band constituted a sort of bridge towards explosion of the Britpop scene. Continuing the streak of successes even after the reunion. In short, everything can be blamed on the Rides except the inability to look around. Their most recent studio album, “This Is Not A Safe Place” (2019), was yet another testimony to this attitude, as well as confirmation that their coming back was not dictated by the possibility of monetizing the return to vogue of a genre that they helped to found, but by the four's need to set brand new ideas to music.
