A New Jersey politician has been found to have shared a fake Spotify Wrapped in a bid to champion Bruce Springsteen.
The state’s Democratic representative Josh Gottheimer took his eagerness to support New Jersey legend Springsteen to the next level – posting his results from Spotify Wrapped 2024 online and showcasing his commitment to listening to The Boss.
“No surprises here… Fun fact: My first ever concert was at Meadowlands to see The Boss!” he shared on social media, alongside an image which showed his top five songs of the past 12 months being the singer’s hits ‘Thunder Road’, ‘Because the Night’, ‘Glory Days’, ‘Badlands’, and ‘The Rising’.

Upon the results being shared, however, some viewers were quick to notice slight discrepancies between the politician’s results and the Wrapped results shared online by other Spotify users.
In the screenshot Gottheimer shared on X/Twitter, there seemed to be a slightly different font choice for the song titles, and the spacing between the letters seemed slightly askew – leading to it being deemed a fake.
After outlets like the New Jersey Monitor weighed in and asked him for comment, Gottheimer went on to reveal he had doctored the results to avoid including his children’s choice in music in the list.
“This would be my Spotify Wrapped if I didn’t share my account with my 12 and 15-year-old kids,” Gottheimer said in a statement. “While it’s Springsteen all day for me — don’t get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!”
He continued: “To paraphrase the Boss: I wasn’t here for business baby, I was only here for fun. So just relax. This was a fun holiday tweet. It’s a joke to question my Springsteen creds, just ask my dog named Rosalita!

Later, he went on to clarify his actual results for the Top Five songs and artists he had on Spotify for 2024. Springsteen still took first place on the artist list, and other names included Billy Joel, Drake, Travis Scott, and Taylor Swift.
As for songs, it was Billy Joel’s ‘Turn The Lights Back On’ which came in top spot, followed by Travis Scott’s ‘FE!N’, Springsteen’s ‘She’s The One’, Pras’ ‘Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Getaway Car’.
Since everyone is dying to know, I’m actually a real Springsteen fan. The biggest surprise here is I managed to listen to more music than my kids this year. pic.twitter.com/zrxomPFtNy

The 2024 edition of Spotify Wrapped arrived last week and, as ever, allowed users to reflect on their listening habits from the past 12 months in its ‘Celebration Of Your Year’ experience. Others in the public eye to share their results included Chappell Roan, who had Heart‘s 1977 hit ‘Barracuda’ as her most listened track of the year, and Sabrina Carpenter, who admitted her own name made the list.
As for the results in the UK, it was confirmed that Arctic Monkeys and Oasis were the UK’s top indie bands, followed by The Smiths, Radiohead and Gorillaz.
As for Bruce Springsteen news, The Boss has had a huge 2024 so far, including wrapping up a massive world tour, appearing at Kamala Harris’ rallies and fighting off rumours that he is a billionaire.
