This is the fourth publication in 2024 for the young singer-songwriter: they join the two aforementioned songs You only love me in the summer And It's not enoughin search of a proudly pop repertoire but without ever giving up the importance and intensity of the words, recounting the transition to adulthood of a GenZ boy.
Written by himself Niveo together with Santoianni And Massimiliano Longofor the text, and from Niveo with Simone Sproccati for music, Locked was produced once again by heysimo.
What we hear is an intimate song in the verses which presents a great dynamic momentum especially in the choruses where the music opens up and the supporting presence of the electric guitars and a synth orchestration give the song an aggressive and deep rhythm, further underlining plus the meaning of the song.
NIVEO, “LOCKED”: MEANING OF THE SONG
With this new single, Niveo wants to tell us about the typical resentment of love stories that end badly, starting from pain, and then opening up towards new beginnings.
Then he tells us more: «Songs, just like polaroids or pages from a secret diary, are treasure chests in which we enclose moments of life, memories, emotions and, sometimes, people».
And he explains: «When I started writing LockedI was going through a moment of great confusion. I was no longer certain of the feelings I felt: I didn't feel happy, but at the same time I didn't have the strength to face the fear of 'feeling alone again'. In that disorder, someone else chose for me”.
«Passing through the feeling of emptiness that every end brings with it and that pain I felt in my chest, right 'between the necklace and the heart', I rediscovered my breathing. I understood that we don't have to chase 'forever' at any cost. With this awareness I finished writing Locked».
The pages of the musical diary of Niveo they are therefore enriched with a new chapter increasingly projected towards the future: «It is a song that does not deny the past, but chooses to prevent it from influencing the future. It starts from resentment, goes through pain and arrives at a newfound serenity.”
The singer-songwriter underlines: «Locked it's for all those people who have found, or are looking for, the courage to lock up a story and the memory of a person, inside a song.” It's impossible not to remember the “key phrase” of the song with which all the choruses end: “I'll lock you inside a song“.
