Now it's official: a new Mac Miller album will be released. It was announced by Mac Miller's own family who will release an album on January 17th – Balloonerism – which the artist had recorded in 2014, more or less at the time of Faces and just before GO:OD AM.
«It was a really important project for Malcolm, he often talked about publishing it even if later GO:OD AM and the other records took precedence,” the note reads. «Many of Malcolm's fans were aware of Balloonerism».
“We believe the project showcases the breadth of Malcolm's musical talent and courage as an artist. Since an unofficial version has been circulating online for years, we think it's appropriate to present an official version of this project since it was something Malcolm cared about.”
The first teaser of the album was presented at Camp Flog Gnaw, Tyler, The Creator's festival.
