Milan Music Week returns from 18 to 24 November, the annual event that puts music at the center of the Lombardy capital with workshops, parties, DJ sets, book presentations and many live shows for a total of over 300 events, 70 of which are organized by artistic direction. The curatorship of which has been entrusted to Nur Al Habash for the third consecutive year, and this year she will be joined by a special collaborator, Venerus.
«I feel very honored to have been entrusted with collaborating in the curation of this Milan Music Week. As a Milanese and an artist, in my journey I feel the call to enhance the place that gave me birth and in which I live, through my active participation. I am happy to be able to offer a moment of narration of what for me is experiencing music, in time, in space, in encounters. Music is a testimony to life that manifests itself in its mystery. And culture in this case is the care of telling these facets. All this within the rhythm of the city, which however tiring, allows these rare and precious balances.” This is what the musician declared during the press conference to present the event, held this morning at BASE Milan.
For the artistic director Nur Al Habash, «this year's Milan Music Week program is one of the richest ever: we have tried to include artists of all backgrounds and extractions, including legends of Italian music and the most interesting newcomerand we made them interact with some of the symbolic public spaces of this city, for a unique musical offering that we hope all the public can appreciate. In the conference program we will talk about AI and new technologies, but also about how important it is to maintain, even in music, a living spirit of humanity and activism.”
What holds this edition together is the theme of tomorrow, expressed as “The future is already like this”. The curators' intentions will thus enhance the role of music and culture in shaping the reality in which we will live as a community, and how it can interact with new technologies. Among the names involved are Gaia, La Representative di Lista, Negramaro, Pop X and Carlo Conti, who will talk about the next Sanremo Festival. But also Selton, Eugenio in via di Gioia, Queen of Saba, Coco, Post Nebbia and many others.
For the opening day, the program includes a special presentation at the Triennale Milano: that of Mina's new album of unreleased songs, out on November 22nd. There will be eight main locations for the events, which will alternate, in addition to the Triennale, between Castello Sforzesco, Dazio di Ponente and di Levante (at the Arco della Pace), the Civic Aquarium of Parco Sempione, the Library of Parco Sempione, the Casa degli Artists in the Moscova area, and 21houseofstories in the offices on the Navigli and in Città Studi. For the opening party on November 19th, the location chosen is the Dazio di Levante, where a secret show will be held. Same venue also for the closing party on November 24th, where Venerus will perform live, accompanied by the Plastica DJ set.
Not only that: Milan Music Week will also offer a series of panels aimed at both music enthusiasts and professionals, which will offer the opportunity to get to know them more closely. Program that is enriched thanks to the presence of the partners of the week, AFI Italian Phonographic Association, ANEM, EMusa, Evolution, FEM Federation of Music Publishers, PMI Independent Music Producers and SCF, who will curate talk between augmented reality, copyright, royalties and new professions in recording.
Also present at the press conference was the Mayor of Milan Beppe Sala, who declared: «The city is ready to welcome a new Music Week. Milan is linked to music and its industry by a profound relationship, a bond that the scheduled events will help to strengthen and renew”; and Tommaso Sacchi, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Milan: «Milan Music Week is much more than just an annual event: it is a moment in which our city transforms into a vibrant and inclusive stage, bringing together artists, professionals and enthusiasts from all over Italy and beyond».
In this ecosystem, another novelty this year is the presence of a team of digital creators, who will tell every side of Milan Music Week. Will also participate Rolling Stone Italywhich together with Urban Vision, a leading media company in urban communication, will organize the Urban Vision Loves Rolling Stone event: un rich calendar of surprise events that will be held on the Rolling Stage by Urban Vision in San Babila, an innovative led stage that will be launched on the occasion of the Milan Music Week.
During the days of the event, Linecheck Music Meeting and Festival, Main Content Partner of the week, will also return, which will take place from 18 to 23 November between BASE Milano and other venues between Milan and Bologna. The theme of this edition: So Far So Good?including training and networking events and a series of events including the return of the Linecheck Academy. Among the names involved for Linecheck, Lorenzo Senni and Mace.
