After the release of the band's twelfth album, Coldplay will retire. Chris Martin said it in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: «We'll only do 12 actual albums, that's true. Yes, I promise,” Martin told Lowe. “That limit is really important.”
A way of entering history as others have done: «There are only seven volumes of Harry Potter. There are only 12 and a half Beatles albums, there are about as many for Bob Marley, so all our heroes. Also, having that limit means that quality control is high.”
Although their twelfth album will be their last record, Martin says there will likely be some side projects with his bandmates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion after they break up. After Moon Music so there will only be “two more proper albums” from the band.
