FolkClub inaugurated his XXXVI Concert Seasonone of the longest-running and eagerly awaited by lovers of quality and authorial music in Turin and beyond. A season full of returns that will welcome on small stage in Via Perrone artists who have left an indelible mark on its history, together with new proposals of great depth, in line with the authentic spirit of the club.
OCTOBER
Five appointments October on the FolkClub stage, it begins PEPPE VOLTARELLIwhich the October 4 will present his new album “The great race towards Lupionòpolis” (Targa Tenco and Premio Loano) accompanied by the violinist Luca Ciarla. Voltarelli, three-time winner of the Targa Tenco Award, is known for his ability to tell stories of life and struggle with a unique and engaging approach, between intensity and irony. The October 5it will be the turn of FABIO TREVESthe 'Puma di Lambrate', which will celebrate its 70 years and 50 years of career of the Treves Blues Band with a musical journey through the history of the blues, accompanied by Alex 'Kid' Gariazzo.
Among the most significant returns of this season is that of Buscadero Nightsthat is, concerts of great American music (and not only) with the artistic direction of Buscadero, the magazine that has been on newsstands since 1980 and promotes music and culture. To open this season theOctober 11th he will be one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century: ERIC ANDERSEN whose songs have been sung by artists such as Lou Reed, The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, John Denver, Linda Ronstadt and even Bob Dylan, with whom Andersen shared the fervent musical scene of New York's Greenwich Village in the 1960s. Andersen will be accompanied by Steve Addabboextraordinary guitarist and producer of Suzanne Vega's global hits and curator of Dylan's legendary Bootleg Series. A magnificent start to this section of the FolkClub season dedicated to Paolo Carù, who suddenly passed away last June.
Always at Octoberbut the 17the fifteenth edition of RadioLondonone of the most beloved jazz festivals in the city, with “I Tre Tenori”, the saxophonists GILAD ATZMON, TONY LAKATOS, and JOHANNES MÜLLER, accompanied by an Italian trio always led by ENZO ZIRILLIfor an evening of great international jazz. The dedication of the 15th edition of Radio Londra is for Vittorio Mezzacapa, one of the enthusiastic and fundamental volunteers of the clubrecently passed away.
The October 24the FolkClub confirms the historic collaboration with EastWest Festival presenting “The challenge of the cellos of France”, an exclusive musical meeting between ÉRIC-MARIA COUTURIER And RENAUD DÉJARDINextraordinary cello virtuosos who will explore together repertoires ranging from baroque to avant-garde. The October 25th CELIA REGGIANI will bring his show “Dove vai d'où tu viens” to Italy for the first time in collaboration with the Italian Songwriter Festival in Paris, an event that combines Italian roots and the great French chanson.
NOVEMBER
November opens 9 with the return of the immense EGBERTO GISMONTIan unquestionably leading figure in world music and culture of the last 50 years, undisputed master of the guitar and piano, known for his compositions that blend Brazilian influences, jazz and classical music. Gismonti is capable of transporting the audience through soundscapes of rare beauty and emotional intensity. The November 16 it will be the turn of STEFANO DALL'ARMELLINA who will present her album “La Magnolia Stellata”, an eagerly awaited return after 21 years, accompanied by literary interventions by the writer Enrica Tesio. On November 21st, the Buscadero Nights they will continue with THOM CHACON and his album “Lonely Songs for Wounded Souls,” an immersion in the deepest roots of Americana.
The month ends on November 29 with the return of JAVIER GIROTTO & AIRES TANGOwho will celebrate 30 years of career with their new album “30”, and the November 30thand with an evening dedicated to flamenco in collaboration with theArte Y Flamenco Associationthanks to the presence of three sacred monsters: JOSE MALDONADO, EL LONDRO and CHICUELOfor one of the most authentic and exciting performances of this ancient tradition.
DECEMBER
December will close the first part of the season with a series of very important concerts. The December 7 FLOa refined singer-songwriter and performer, will present her show “The song that I owe you”, a journey between Naples, Paris and Mexico City, between music and theatre. The December 13th, LUKE WINSLOW KING and ROBERTO LUTI will offer an evening of blues, folk and rock'n'roll, while the December 14th RANDOLPH MATTHEWS will guide the audience in a unique experience of jazz, soul and gospel for the event RadioLondon.
The first part of the season will end on December 20thand with STEFANO VALLA, DANIELE SCURATI AND FABIO RINAUDwho with “L'Usignolo” will offer a concert dedicated to the popular music of the Four Provinces, fusing Italian traditions with hints of jazz and contemporary music.
