Bryan Ferry presents Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023.
The 81-track collection is the first release spanning over 50 years of music and 16 solo albums, exploring and celebrating the depth of Bryan Ferry. The collection is scheduled to be released on October 25, 2024 BMG.
The 81 songs that compose Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023 illustrate an unprecedented musical adventure. The unrivaled history of songwriting that has unfolded over more than 50 years is now celebrated in this kaleidoscopic collection of the music of Bryan Ferry. This work celebrates the artist who has carved out a masterful place for himself as a modern interpreter of the song, through a dizzying series of covers ranging from Bob Dylan to Amy Winehouse, from Rodgers and Hart to the Velvet Underground via Tim Buckley, Shakespeare, Sam and Dave, arriving at the interpretation of sailors' work songs.
Then there is the singer-songwriter who, in singles like “Slave To Love” of 1985, he wrote some of the most important songs of those years, which still sound unique and timeless today. There is the futurist who evokes vortices of electronics; or the passionate revivalist who presents songs and styles of the 1920s and 1930s as if they were the hot sound of tomorrow. There is the figure moving on the pulsating dance floor of the nightclub, under its fantastic lights; and the boy who just wants to be alone, slipping away into dark and bittersweet alleys where everything becomes neon and noir.
At the launch of this career celebration, Bryan Ferry he published “She Belongs To Me”a powerful reimagining of the classic by Bob Dylan of 1965, which today closes the circle of his musical history.
