September 27 marks an important date for Damian David: the release of his first solo single, Silverlines. With this song, produced by the English singer-songwriter and producer Labrinth, Damian proves to be a complete artist, capable of shining even far from Måneskin.
The surprise in listening Silverlines was such that I decided not to include it in the usual weekly report cards All Music Italy (you can find them here), but to dedicate a separate article to this masterpiece.
Silverlines it's a little gem that, I'm sure, will mark a great new beginning for this brilliant young singer-songwriter. Before delving into the analysis of the song, I would like to take a step back and remember the international success of Måneskinwho represented Italy with freshness and innovation. It's been a long time since an Italian band achieved such global popularity – perhaps only Il Volo had achieved similar success in recent years, albeit in completely different musical genres.
After the enormous success of MåneskinI must confess that I missed emotional songs like Go home and other pieces that paved the way for the group. And then, here's the miracle… Damianwith Silverlinesyou managed to move me deeply, bringing a tear to my eye.
This song has the flavor of the great sacred monsters of world pop: echoes of Phil Collinsa little bit of Bon Joviand even the sounds of the very first ones Coldplay. The production is masterful and powerfully amplifies the ideas of Damiano Davidgiving the song an epic dimension.
The artist has been able to ride the success, but now he will have to pay attention to maintaining this quality. I am sure that his voice, with its power and versatility, will accompany him on this journey.
I would like to quote a few words that Damian he used to launch the single: “I have traveled all over the world to find my voice…”. Words that I fully agree with. I myself often say that “we are our voice”, and I believe that Damianwith this song, has truly found his.
After all, if we don't dig deep into our soul, we can't last. The public feeds on emotions, and an artist must always seek and find himself. In Silverlines, Damiano David he did just that.
Thank you Damian I am infinitely curious to “have more”.
