A “new” video has been released Starman by David Bowie. It was created using footage shot during the 1972 and 1973 concerts by the great photographer Mick Rock.
The video is tied to the launch of the Dolby Atmos version of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars which will be released on September 6. The Blu-ray version includes, in addition to the Atmos mix, a new stereo mix and two versions of the original 1972 remastered mix.
“It makes you feel right there with David,” says Scott, who produced the original 1972 album and co-edited the spatial audio version with Emre Ramazanoglu. “David was theatrical, so I think putting him in an immersive setting was a great choice. I wanted to make it feel more like a live experience, and toward the end I even had him move around a bit on stage, like he would in real life. I hope listening to it makes you feel like you’re in the theater, watching a show.”
