With $945.7 million grossed and 8.8 million tickets sold as of March 2022, Music of the Spheres Coldplay has become the biggest rock tour ever. The news and data are reported by Billboard Box Score who announced how Chris Martin's band has succeeded in the feat of surpassing the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour by Elton John, the farewell tour of the English artist held from 2018 to 2023. Well distanced, on the lowest step of the podium, the U2 of 360 Tour with $736.4 million.
Doing some quick calculations, it is very likely that the band can exceed a billion dollars in revenue since there are still 21 concerts scheduled. Every Coldplay will play in Munich and then move on to Austria, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and conclude the tour in mid-November.
However, it will be impossible to even come close to Taylor Swift's record for the highest-grossing tour ever, given that the pop star surpassed the billion-dollar mark in December 2023 (becoming the first in history) when there were still 12 months to go.
