Eighteen years: that's how long Josh Homme, frontman of Queens of the Stone Age, supposedly spent trying to convince French authorities to allow his band to play in the catacombs of Paris, about twenty metres below ground level in the French capital and open to the public since 1809.
Result? He made it, at least according to what Homme said during a press conference on the occasion of Hellfest 2024, a traditional summer event for the rock and metal community held in Clisson, France. The news was first reported by Rock Wheelsan independent Spanish magazine that deals with rock music and related topics.
The occasion would be historic: no one else has ever had the chance to hold a concert in this “venue”. During the conference, Homme briefly mentioned that the live would be scheduled for this week. According to Consequence of Sounda representative of the band confirmed Homme's statement, without providing further details on how the whole thing was organized.
