With SXSW and The Great Escape officially kicking off festival season in chaotic fashion earlier this year and the likes of Glastonbury and BST Hyde Park bringing some of the biggest names in music to the UK, the big summer of gigs 2023 is well underway.
To help you keep track of the spectacular must-see shows happening around the UK, here are the best gigs to see this week (June 16 – July 3).
Jamie T

Jamie T wrapped up his first UK tour in six years last November, with his headline gig at Alexandra Palace described as “a hero’s return for the comeback king”. Now he’s back for another celebratory turn at the much bigger Finsbury Park following the release of new single ‘Hippodrome’.
He’ll be joined by his mates in IDLES alongside Kojey Radical, Biig Piig, Hak Baker and Willie J Healey for the occasion as well.
Jamie T plays:
June
30 – Finsbury Park, London

Guns N’ Roses

Fresh from that Glastonbury headline set, Guns N’ Roses are bringing their rock & roll might to the rest of the UK. They may have put in an epic two hour appearance at Worthy Farm but other shows have seen the classic rock icons playing for over three hours, with a fluid setlist pulling from across their back catalogue. The most dangerous band in rock apparently still has a few surprises up their sleeves.
Guns N’ Roses play:
June
27 – Bellahouston Park, Glasgow
30 – BST Hyde Park, London

Pulp

Following their glorious 2012 reunion tour, Jarvis Cocker confirmed last year that Pulp would be hitting the road for an encore. The run of shows began at the end of last month and has already seen the Britpop legends headline the Isle Of Wight festival but more than a repeat of what’s come before, this Pulp tour has already thrown up a few surprises.
Pulp play:
July
01 – Finsbury Park, London
04 – Castlefield Bowl, Manchester
07 – TRNSMT, Glasgow
09 – Open Air Theatre, Scarborough

Iggy Pop

On Iggy Pop’s 19th solo album ‘Every Loser’, The Godfather of Punk “staged a raucous return to his roots” and what better way to celebrate than a snarling, snotty all-dayer in London.
Iggy Pop is due to headline the Dog Day afternoon, alongside the likes of Blondie, Buzzcocks, Lambrini Girls and Generation Sex, a group featuring Billy Idol and Tony James of Generation X, as well as Sex Pistols‘ Steve Jones and Paul Cook.
“I always assumed there would be an arc and things would quiet down after I hit 65,” Pop told NME last year of his continued success. “That hasn’t been the case.”
Iggy Pop plays:
July
01 – Castlefield Bowl, London

Blackpink

Fresh from absolutely owning their debut headline set at Coachella festival earlier this year, Blackpink are set to bring their K-pop spectacle to the UK for their biggest show yet in the country. Kicking off the tour back in October, NME said the group brought “power and playfulness” and if Coachella is anything to go by, their confidence and command has only increased since.
Blackpink play:
July
02 – BST Hyde Park, London

The 1975

Where to start with The 1975, eh. The band have been making headlines since their At Their Very Best Tour kicked off last November with the likes of Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Charli XCX guesting throughout the run. There’s absolutely no way the band don’t step things up with their biggest shows in the UK ahead of another run around North America.
The 1975 play:
July
02 – Finsbury Park, London
09 – TRNSMT, Glasgow

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden kicked off their new ‘Future Past’ tour earlier this year, focusing on 2021’s “imaginative” album ‘Senjutsu’ as well as highlighting 1986’s ‘Somewhere In Time’ alongside a smattering of other hits. Despite the re-jigged setlist though, it’s very much theatrical business as usual from the heavy metal greats.
Iron Maiden play:
June
26 – OVO Hydro, Glasgow
28 – First Direct Arena, Leeds
30 – AO Arena, Manchester
July
03 – Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham
