Bisexual panic is seeing Reneé Rapp and Jacob Elordi teasing their appearances on Saturday Night Live. Together.
On Thursday, SNL dropped its weekly teasers for this Saturday’s show, which will see Elordi as host and Rapp as musical guest. The video features the two stars alongside Bowen Yang cracking jokes about the Saltburn star being so babygirl.
“Reneé, you were so right, he is so babygirl,” joked Bowen Yang with a smirk. To which Rapp replied, “He’s so baby girl.”
“Me? I’m a baby girl?” asked Elordi. “So what’s Reneé?”
“Oh, I’m mother,” Rapp responded.
An explanation for non-Gen Z’ers: “He’s so babygirl” is a term used to describe a man who is very cutesy in a slightly submissive way. (It’s likely a call to Elordi’s character of Felix in Saltburn.) And, being “mother” is defined as “a woman who’s iconic and constantly serves cunt” by Urban Dictionary.
The second teaser sees Yang calling Jacob “Jacob Oh Lordy” before Rapp channels Regina George by asking him to stop. “Wow, Reneé, you really are a Mean Girls,” Yang says awkwardly.
The duo were announced as the special guests for this week’s episode last month. Their appearance follows the Jan. 10 release of the new Mean Girls with Rapp playing Regina George.
“Rapp knows exactly how to vamp, go vulnerable, toxify an environment, bask in adulation, dole out attention or withdraw it, and rock an icy stare in a way that makes you feel she now owns this role,” read a Rolling Stone review of the film. “Even the way she spins a familiar line like ‘Get in, loser!’ is unique.”
Meanwhile, Elordi is coming off a highly successful start to awards season after starring in last year’s Saltburn and Priscilla as Elvis Presley. He’s up for Best Supporting Actor and the Rising Star Award at next month’s BAFTA Film Awards.
