Last year, A24 restored and theatrically re-released Talking Heads’ incomparable 1984 concert film, Stop Making Sense. Now, the independent film company has announced a new tribute album, teasing the project with a humorous clip featuring Paramore’s cover of “Burning Down the House.” Check it out below.
In the visual, Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams finds a large package on her doorstep. Upon opening the box, she discovers a jumbo grey suit—just like the one David Byrne sports onstage in Stop Making Sense. The video ends with a snippet of Paramore playing “Burning Down the House,” which will serve as the opening track on A24’s tribute record. A24 has confirmed that there will be a total of 16 songs on the album. A release date for the project has not yet been revealed.
In conjunction with the theatrical re-release of Stop Making Sense, a deluxe edition of the soundtrack was issued last year via Rhino. The film, directed by the late Jonathan Demme, was shot over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983. It was added to the National Film Registry in 2021.
