Mike Judge and Zach Woods take on the well-intentioned, if not slightly delusional, airwaves of public radio in the new trailer for the upcoming semi-animated series, In the Know.
The show centers around Lauren Caspian (voiced by Woods), public radio’s third most popular host, whose self-absorption and haughtiness are matched only by the dulcet tenor of his voice. Each episode centers around Lauren’s in-depth interview program, which will feature real-life celebrity guests.
The clip offers a glimpse at Lauren’s ridiculous interview style, like when he asks Tegan and Sara if having a girlfriend, whose name is also Lauren and looks like him, makes him an “honorary twin lesbian.” Or when he regales Jonathan Van Ness with the time he got an erection reading Plato’s“The Cave.” Or queries Hugh Laurie about what should be done about Meghan Markle.
“I… don’t know that any action is required,” Laurie deadpans.
Other celebrity guests set for the six-episode first season include Finn Wolfhard, Mike Tyson, Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Norah Jones, Nicole Byer, Jorge Masvidal, and Roxane Gay.
On top of the interviews, In the Know will be a workplace comedy. Joining Woods in the core cast is Succession’s J. Smith-Cameron (playing Barb, the co-executive producer), Caitlin Reilly (Fabian, a researcher and fact checker), Charlie Bushnell (Chase, the college intern), and Carl Tart (Carl, the sound engineer). Judge will also be part of the cast, voicing Sandy, the culture critic.
All six episodes of In the Know will premiere on Jan. 25 on Peacock. Judge and Woods co-created the series with Brandon Gardner.
