Johnny Marr wrote some of the most important pages in the history of alternative music. From his beginnings with The Smiths – who established him as one of the most influential songwriters and guitarists of his generation – his creative path has seen him at the center of fundamental projects such as The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse and The Cribsas well as collaborations with artists of the caliber of Pretenders, Talking Heads, The Avalanches and with the composer Hans Zimmerwith whom he worked on the soundtrack of the latest James Bond film, No Time To Diesigning together with Billie Eilish the Oscar-nominated title track.
The live return comes at a particularly fertile moment in his career. With Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr (New Voodoo / BMG), released on November 3, 2023, Marr celebrated ten years of solo activity through a personally curated collection that traces the most significant moments of his journey as a frontman. The album includes the most representative songs of his four albums entered the British Top Ten — The Messenger, Playland, Call The Comet, Fever Dreams Pts 1–4 — together with stand-alone singles and two new unreleased songs, Somewhere And TheAnswer. A work that returns the portrait of an artist in continuous evolution, capable of renewing himself without ever losing a strong melodic and emotional identity.
In September 2024, Marr also relaunched another key chapter in his musical history with the release of remastered reissue of Boomslangthe 2003 cult album recorded with The Healers. 21 years after the original release, the new edition published by BMG includes seven unreleased songs and never-released archive materialoffering an in-depth look at some of the freest and most experimental work of his career.
In 2025 it also arrived Look Out Live!album recorded in 2024 at Hammersmith Apollo, Londonwhich captures all the power and breadth of his live repertoire: from songs from his solo career (Hi Hello, Easy Money, Somewhere), to the Smiths classics (This Charming Man, How Soon Is Now?, Bigmouth Strikes Again), passing through the brackets of Electronic and for iconic covers such as The Passenger by Iggy Pop and Rebel Rebel by David Bowie, with Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys as a special guest. A live show that demonstrates how Johnny Marr managed to bring together all the chapters of his musical history on stage.
The Italian summer concerts will be a unique opportunity to cross the sound universe of Johnny Marr: an extraordinary career that continues to evolve, always remaining faithful to an immediately recognizable style.
