“It’s like a weird fucking dream,” the pop star said of the sketch (in which a woman’s dreams are haunted by dancing Troyes)
Troye Sivan is fully embracing the unique privilege of being spoofed on Saturday Night Live, even changing his Instagram profile picture to Timothée Chalamet (a.k.a. “lil Timmy Tim”) portraying him on the sketch show.
The “Troye Sivan Sleep Demon” sketch was a highlight from this weekend’s episode, with Sarah Sherman playing a woman whose dreams are haunted by Sivan (played by Chalamet), as well as his choreography and tiny red undies from the “Got Me Started” video. At the very end, when Sherman’s character decides to embrace the pop star’s presence, musical guests Boygenius even showed as additional Troy Sivans for one last delirious bit of choreo.
On TikTok, Sivan stitched a clip from the sketch and gleefully reacted, “The only way I can describe this is, it’s like a weird fucking dream” (which is obviously fitting considering the nature of the sketch). He continued with a laugh, “Like imagine… Timothée Chalamet was in my dream, but he was me, and he was wearing my clothes.”
In a semi-related follow-up post celebrating his recent Grammy nominations, Sivan also referred to the sketch in the caption, writing, “And getting impersonated by lil Timmy Tim on SNL I’m about to be soooo annoying.”
Earlier this week, Sivan picked up his first two Grammy nominations, Best Pop Dance Recording and Best Music Video for his single “Rush.” The track appears on Sivan’s third album, Something to Give Each Other, which was released back in October. The album marks Sivan’s first proper full-length in five years, following 2018’s Bloom, though it did also follow his 2020 EP, In a Dream (go figure).
