As SAG-AFTRA’s fight with Hollywood studios came to a close on Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan celebrated with a proper reunion.
Curtis shared a photo on Instagram with her Freaky Friday costar, captioning, “Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY!” Along with the smiling selfie, she added, “Well, it’s Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!”
In May, The Hollywood Reporter announced that a Disney sequel to the 2003 comedy was in the works and that Curtis and Lohan were expected to return to their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman, respectively, after 20 years.
In a previous interview with the New York Times, Curtis revealed that she called Disney after wrapping her Halloween Ends press tour, during which people around the world asked about the possibility of a Freaky Friday sequel. “Something really touched a chord,” she said. “When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”
Lohan added, “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”
Last year, Curtis pondered what a body-swapping sequel would look like during an interview on The View, and explained she would play an “old grandma who switches bodies” with Lohan.
“So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still, you know, happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon,” she said. “And simply, I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers… today. I wanna be a helicopter parent in today’s world, as an old lady.”
