“We’ve managed to merge various styles and sounds, which is the true reward in music,” Corleone said in a statement
Maria Becerra is ready for a poolside party. On Wednesday night, the Argentine singer released her single “Piscina” featuring producer Ovy on the Drums and Puerto Rican reggaetonero Chencho Corleone.
The video, directed by Julián Levy, opens with Becerra lounging in the sun as she sings about a meeting someone who makes her day after crossing paths. “This will get better when our lips touch,” she sings in Spanish. Corleone then joins for his own fiery verse.
Becerra first heard the song during a trip to Medellín, Colombia, where Ovy on the Drums played her a demo version with Justin Quiles. “The intro and chorus captivated me. I was in love with the song from the moment I heard [it],” Becerra said in a press release. “We re-recorded it in his studio that same day.”
Corleone joined the track a bit later, and said it has been an “insightful journey” to work on the project with Becerra.
“Balancing the feminine and masculine elements in the vocals and composition presented unique challenges. It was crucial that the song’s theme resonated with me personally,” Corleone said in the release. “We’ve managed to merge various styles and sounds, which is the true reward in music.”
“The cultural blend, with Maria hailing from Argentina and myself from Puerto Rico, brought us together in a musical collaboration that respects our individual artistry, something that I find deeply satisfying about ‘Piscina,’” he added.
“Piscina” arrives several weeks after several collaborations for Becerra. She recently joined Fuerza Regida for “Pradax,” Enrique Iglesias for “Asi Es La Vida,” and Los Angeles Azules for “El Amor de mi Vida.” She last dropped solo single “Corazón Vacío” in late June.
