It feels good to portrase mal! Ahead of the release of Emilia‘s album .mp3 on Thursday, the Argentinian pop star debuted the colorful video for “La_Original.mp3,” featuring her fellow Argentinian pop star Tini.
The video, premiering exclusively with Rolling Stone, sees the two walking onto a runway while watched by fashion critics before they start singing the lyrics to their catchy track as they sport headpiece mics reminiscent of Britney Spears’ best performances.
“With Tini, I share that sisterhood,” she said in a press release. “I always try to show all parts of myself, but I feel like with all the criticism we sometimes face, we hide and don’t want to show our true selves. La Original.mp3 is about that.”
“With all the criticism, you sometimes hide and you avoid showing more of yourself in fear of what they’ll say about you. Always doing that is so sad,” Emilia added. “Tini and I decided to do the opposite and show that it’s okay to portarse mal when there’s no one there to judge or point fingers.”
The video then jumps to show the two singers dancing and singing the lyrics to the piano house beat to each other on an empty runway once everyone is gone. The lyrics capture the two singers fully embracing themselves behind the scenes once the cameras turn off.
The new video with Tini comes as Emilia releases her Y2K-influenced album .mp3, featuring singles such as “GTA.mp3,” “Guerrero.mp3,” and “No_se_ve.mp3” with Ludmilla. She also collaborated with FMK on “Salgo a Bailar” and Miranda! on “Uno Los Dos.”
“These songs on .mp3 are just one part of me: I talk about my deepest fears, my insecurities, my most vulnerable moments, my manifestations, my happiness. It’s completely me,” she said of the new record. “I followed my heart’s intuition… and I think that’s reflected in this album.”
Tini released her LP Cupido in February, featuring songs like “La Loto” with Anitta and Becky G, “Muñecas” with La Joaqui and Steve Aoki, and “Miénteme” with Maria Becerra.
