Citing doctor’s orders, Hill called off her gig in Texas last night after postponing a show in Philly last week
Ms. Lauryn postponed a second show on her Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th anniversary/Fugees reunion tour due to “a serious case of vocal strain/injury.”
Hill called off her show in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday, Oct. 30, after previously postponing a concert in Philadelphia last week. In a statement shared on social media yesterday, Hill said, “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable.”
The musician added that she woke up Monday “hoping to have enough voice” to perform but could “barely talk let alone sing or rap.” She continued: “I need to heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, sadly, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s show. Much love to all of you for your support, and I look forward to coming back to Texas soon.”
Rescheduled dates for the Forth Worth and Philadelphia concerts have yet to be announced. As it stands, Hill is set to return to the stage Nov. 2 at the Ball Arena in Denver.
Hill has spent much of the fall on the road, playing a pair of U.S. dates in September — including a set with the Fugees at Global Citizen Festival in New York City — before embarking on a run of Australian and New Zealand dates in early October. She officially kicked off the North American leg on Oct. 17 with a special hometown show in Newark, New Jersey. Dates are currently scheduled through Nov. 9 in Seattle, and throughout the run, Hill will be joined by the Fugees’ Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean.
The Fugees reunion is, however, bittersweet, following Michel’s recent conviction on 10 counts in his federal conspiracy case. Pras hasn’t been sentenced yet, and his new legal team is currently trying to secure him a new trial.
