NFL player Keion White was reportedly shot in the ankle after an alleged altercation with Lil Baby at a San Francisco nightclub following the Super Bowl.
The athlete, who plays for the San Francisco 49ers, was hosting a private Super Bowl afterparty on Sunday (February 8) following the conclusion of the sporting event at Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers’ home ground in nearby Santa Clara. The party was hosted at bar and nightclub Dahlia, according to a report by San Francisco Standard.
Lil Baby, real name Dominique Jones, was performing at the Grand Nightclub, about two miles from Dahlia. The rapper and his entourage reportedly entered Dahlia’s main floor, which is open to the public, and tried to enter White’s party on the floor below.
The article quotes an unnamed witness who was interviewed by police, who said White and Lil Baby got into an argument. The witness then reportedly said he went upstairs to get the help of management, only to hear two gunshots. The witness claims he returned to the downstairs area to find White has been shot in his left ankle, but did not see the shooter or know their identity.
A police report quoted by the article did not name a suspect, and said that White was uncooperative with police when asked about the identity of the shooter. It also states that evidence found included a 9mm bullet shell casing and a .45-calibre bullet casing.
Neither Keion White nor Lil Baby have publicly commented on the incident.
Super Bowl LX was contested between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, with the Seahawks winning 29-13 to win their second title.
The event was also notable for its half time show, where Bad Bunny performed a medley of songs with guest artists that included Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga. The show, which shared the message “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate Is Love”, was the fourth biggest in Super Bowl history, with an audience of 128.2million viewers.
